The Chichibu 7EVEN Gods of Fortune Edition No. 5 Fukurokuju is a Japanese single malt whisky from the Chichibu distillery and the fifth release in the 7EVEN Gods of Fortune series. This fifth edition is named after Fukurokuju. Fuku means luck, Roku means richness and Ju means a long life. The whisky itself is an 8 year old release made from Odyssey barley which matured in a first fill bourbon cask. It got bottled in 2024 at natural cask strength of 61% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour, as a limited edition single cask release of 188 bottles.
Nose: floral and fruity with aromas of green apple and roses, sugar, fried dough and tumtums
Palate: an explosion of tropical fruit aromas with notes of pineapple, papaya, and guava and at the same time also a spicy/peppery note
Finish: medium long with sweet influences of summer fruit. Pretty powerful but also well balanced
