This Reservado Merlot Mendoza is an Argentinian wine from the Mendoza region. The grapes for this Merlot are handpicked in small batches between the 21st and 28th of March. The best grapes are hand selected followed by a cold skin maceration that takes 5 days. After that the most is fermented at 26-28°C for 20 days. 60% of the young wine matures in French oak barriques for 12 months before it’s blended and bottled. The result is a dark red Merlot that is well balanced and has aromas of brambles, raspberries and subtle wood aromas. The palate is soft and round with ripe tannins followed by ap pleasant and long finish. This wine is best paired with pasta dishes and pork and has an ageing potential of around 5 years.

The Phebus wines come from the Argentinian winemaker Fabre Montmayou. Hervé J. Fabre, born in the Bordeaux, arrived in Argentina in the early 90’s looking for possibilities to invest in vineyards. He was impressed by the potential and quality of the Malbec grapes which made him decide to build his first vineyard in 1992: Fabre Montmayou. He became one of the pioneers in Argentinian wines made from a single grape variety. The company combines the modern techniques of wine making, the terroir of Mendoza and the “savoir faire” from the Bordeaux for making wines with a unique personality. The grapes come from the best regions in Mendoza and Patagonia.
