This Reservado Malbec Patagonia is a Malbec from the Patagonia region in the south of Argentina, specifically the Alto Valle de Rio Negro region. Between the 9th and 20th of April the grapes are handpicked here in small batches. After a cold skin maceration of 5 days the most is fermented at 26-28°C for a period of roughly 20 days. After that 50% matures in French oak barriques for 12 months after which the wine is blended and bottled. The result is a dark red wine with a purple touch. A typical Malbec from Patagonia with an elegant structure and ripe tannins combined with fresh aromas of red cherries, liqourice and violets. This wine is best paired with meat stews and grilled meat and has an ageing potential of around 5 years.
Phebus
The Phebus wines come from the Argentinian winemaker Fabre Montmayou. Hervé J. Fabre, born in the Bordeaux, arrived in Argentina in the early 90’s looking for possibilities to invest in vineyards. He was impressed by the potential and quality of the Malbec grapes which made him decide to build his first vineyard in 1992: Fabre Montmayou. He became one of the pioneers in Argentinian wines made from a single grape variety. The company combines the modern techniques of wine making, the terroir of Mendoza and the “savoir faire” from the Bordeaux for making wines with a unique personality. The grapes come from the best regions in Mendoza and Patagonia.
