The Maltman Margadale 16 years old 2004 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from the Bunnahabhain distillery bottled by the independent bottler The Maltman (Meadowside Blending). Margadale refers to Margadale River, the water source of Bunnahabhain distillery, and is mainly used by independent bottlers for heavily peated Bunna. This Margadale was distilled in February 2004 and matured in bourbon hogshead 2122. It was bottled in February 2020 at natural cask strength of 50% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour. This is a limited single cask release of 320 bottles.
Nose: a firm Islay nose with peat, sea water and freshly baked bread
Palate: creamy and gentle with hints of lemon, almonds and a nice kick of peat and salted liquorice
Finish: warm and medicinal with sweet biscuits and a hint of vanilla
