The Lost Distillery Company Jericho Vintage Collection Batch 2 is a blended malt malt that comes close to the single malts from the Jericho distillery around 100 years ago. The Lost Distillery Company started in 2013 with reproducing this lost malts. This is a vintage version between 18 and 25 years old bottled in the 2nd batch.
The Jericho Distillery was founed in 1822 in a remote valley close to Insch in Aberdeenshire. After the takeover in 1883 it was named Benachie. The quality and reputation remianed while the production was increased significantly. Due to the crisis in the whisky industry the distillery closed in 1913. Characterizing this reincarnation of Jericcho/Benachie is the sole use of sherry matured whisky's.
Nose: Rich Sherry moving to very mature dried dark fruits, baked sponge and fresh ground arabica coffee.
Palate: Full in the mouth, warming and indulgent sherry cask notes return with hints of dark chocolate, ripe fruits and wood spice
Finish: with a long lingering finish
