The Dalaruan Distillery was founded in 1825 by Charless Colvill and was located in in Argyll and Bute (Campbeltown). After 100 years it was forced to close in 1925 due to the drop in whisky trade from Campbeltown. The name comes form the Dalradia empride that was founded shortly after the breakup of the Romanian empire.
This Dalaruan was bottled in the Classic Selection series containing malts of 12 to 15 years old bottled at 43% ABV. The flavor profile is similar to a Springbank release.
Nose: spices, fruit and maritime aromas
Palate: ripe sweet fruit with smoke
Finish: more smoke with a lingering saltiness and minerals
