The Spice Tree is a rich and seductive vatted malt by Compass Box made only from Northern Highlands single malts. First bottled in 2005 and temporarily discontinued in 2006 due to a conflict with the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA). The malts used in this blend, of which a large part comes from Clynelish, have mostly been matured in first fill bourbon casks followed by a maturation in refill casks with heavily toasted cask heads made from French oak. The casks heads are toasted 3 times to give the whisky the ultimate aromas and the second maturation can take up to two years.
