The Xtra Old Particular Black Series Glenrothes 30 years old 1989 is an older Speyside single malt from the Glenrothes distillery bottled in the Xtra Old Particular series by the independent bottler Douglas Laing. This Glenrothes was distilled in May 1989 and matured in refill sherry butt 14056. It was bottled in April 2020 at natural cask strength of 47,5% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour, as a limited single cask release of 478 bottles.
Nose: immediately sherried – juicy forest fruits, mocha and cracked black pepper – alongside charred oak with a hint of vanilla
Palate: thick and moreish, bursting with cinnamon, brown sugar cubes, orange rind and honeycomb
Finish: goes on and on with much that has gone before plus ripe plums and cocoa
