Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique (57,1%)

This Solist Vinho Barrique was released in the Solist series of Taiwanese distiller Kavalan. This malt has matured in charred American oak casks that have contained both red and white wine. After the wine is pulled out the casks are sanded before the whisky is put in. Due to this process more flavours release that would normally never be present in a whisky. It is bottled at natural cask strength of 57,7% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.

Nose: lots of vanilla and caramel followed by complex peppery notes with spices, dates and ripe melon, mango and citrus

Palate: full-bodied with robust aromas of toffee and chocolate, some spices and ripe fruit

Finish: rounded and complex with all aromas from the palate
