The Craigellachie 13 years old is the youngest in the Craigellachie range of single malts and was first introduced in the autumn of 2014. A rare malt since the Craigellachie distillery does not often release them. This Speyside whisky has matured in refill American oak casks and has a dark edge with a waft of smoke.
Nose: soft melted banana toffos, vanilla rice, apple skins, window putty and a freshly opened can of pineapple chunks
Taste: flowery talcum, pressed face powder, metallic / aluminum notes, dry mouth feel like cranberries, dusty wood shavings, a soft waft of smoke
Finish: an odd dryness right to the back of my mouth and throat, but tasty lasting notes, dried cranberries and some wood spice
