The Highland Park Einar is the third release in the Warrior Series, a 2013 exclusive travel retail series from the Highland Park distillery. Einar was, together with Svein and Harald, bottled early 2013 and got his name from warrior Einar that was the joint Earl of Orkney in 1014. He was known for his ong exploratory journeys and not being very nice to those that he came in to contact with on his travels. He also killed his younger brother to obtain some land using an axe, which is depicted on his whisky label and tin.
This Orkney single malt has matured in American oak casks and is characterized by his peat smoke and complex character with lots of different spices. It was bottled at 40% ABV.
Nose: a mix of cinnamon, cedar wood and oak, vanilla, malty cereals, golden syrup and a whiff of earthy smoke
Palate: the elements from the nose are replicated with notes of syrup and wood spices, a hint of fruitiness that develops to something tropical, citrus and smoke
Finish: lightly smoky and lingering with syrupy sweet notes and wood spices, nutmeg and vanilla
