Lowlands
De Lowlands zijn de Schotse Laaglanden in de zuidelijke helft van Schotland. De naam in het Schots, soms Laagland-Schots genoemd, is Lawlands. De Schots-Gaelische naam a' Ghalldachd betekent "plaats van de vreemdeling". Dat is de taal van de Highlands, de Schotse Hooglanden in het noorden.
