The Laphroaig An Cuan Mor is an 18 years old Islay single malt that's, together with the QA Cask Release and the PX Cask Release, part of the travel retail range of this distiller. In the Gaelic language An Cuan Mor means 'large ocean' and it represents the location of the distillery where the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean are connected.
This malt whisky has matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak and was finished in European oak casks. It is bottled at 48% ABV, non chill filtered. A rare and unique Laphroaig with a nice palate, spicy caramel aromas of American oak with rich apricot and raisin aromas from the European oak
Nose: heavy smoke aromas with salt, vanilla, tar and iron rust
Palate: a cooling body with lots of smoke, maritime aromas and some sweetness, minerals and menthol
Finish: sweetness with stewed apricots and beaches
