Kilchoman Machir Bay Release 2014 (46%)

The Kilchoman Machir Bay was the first regular/core range release of this young Islay distillery and is a vatted malt of 4 and 5 year old Kilchomans. Both have matured in first fill bourbon casks but the 4 years old has got a 4 week finish in Oloroso sherry butts. A surprisingly rich single malt with gentle peat aromas combined with a hint of sherry. This is the 2014 release, bottled in April 2014 at 46% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.

Nose: smoky and smoldering with a hint of marmalade, lemon zests and plasters

Palate: light sherry aromas with pepper, butterscotch, anise and peat smoke

Finish: long, spicy and complex
