Kilchoman Machir Bay Release 2013 (46%)

The Kilchoman Machir Bay was the first regular/core range release of this young Islay distillery and is a vatted malt of 4 and 5 year old Kilchomans. Both have matured in first fill bourbon casks but the 4 years old has got a 4 week finish in Oloroso sherry butts. A surprisingly rich single malt with gentle peat aromas combined with a hint of sherry.

Nose: typical Islay with powerful peat smoke and gentle notes of fruit compote

Palate: aromas from the nose with some more dominant fruit followed by vanilla and a pleasant sweetness

Finish: long and lingering with the beautiful Islay character
