The Bowmore 12 years old is a mild Islay single malt compared to the peat monsters like Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Caol Ila. Bowmore is the 'capital city' of Islay and the distillery exists since 1779, the oldest on the island. The name is Gaelic for 'large bay' and refers to Loch Indaal where Bowmore is situated.
Colour: orange gold
Nose: salty, seaweed, honey, peat, citrus and seasalt
Palate: very gentle for an Islay whisky, salty, honey, citrus, chocolate, some smoke and peat
Finish: short and a little salty with some honey
