This 12 years old The Arran is a miniature of the Cask Strength releases, bottled in September 2013. This Isle of Arran single malt is a marriage of 5 first fill sherry casks, 13 second fill sherry hogsheads and 31 bourbon barrels. In contradiction to former editions it contains more sherried Arran whisky's resulting in a more fruity palate. This edition is bottled at natural cask strength of 52,9% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: those little bags of dried fruits, but the ones with the exotic, tropical fruits, not just raisins and bits of apple. It smells like those
Palate: subtle citrus zest and dark chocolate with roasted coffee and quite nutty too
Finish: it grows hot on the finish
