The Loch Lomond 12 years old The Open Special Edition is a special release Highland single malt from the Loch Lomond distillery marking the first time in over 80 years that the prestigious golf tournament The Open, of which Loch Lomond is a sponsor, was canceled in 2020. The spirit for this single malt was distilled in a straight neck pot still with the use of Chardonnay yeast fermentation. The Chardonnay yeast adds a lively, almost effervescent mouthfeel, with additional fruit characteristics like grapefruit and tart green apples with a finish of powdery sherbet and lime juice. This Lomond was bottled at 46% ABV as a limited release of 3.000 bottles which matured for 12 years in refill American oak casks.
