The Highland Park Valkyrie is the latest addition to the Highland Park range and the first in a series of 3 inspired by the viking legends. In 2018 the Valknut will follow and after that the Valhalla. Valkyrie was a feminine figure in the Viking mythology. She could determine which warriors would die and were allowed to enter the army of the god Odin. These warriors could be recognized by their Valknut tattoo.
As a whisky the Valkyrie matured in first fill American oak sherry casks as well as Spanish ex bourbon and ex sherry casks and some refill casks. It is bottled at 45% ABV and comes in a bottle and box designed by the Danish designer Jim Lyngvild. His 36th great grandfather was Ragnvald Eysteinsson, the first Earl of Orkney. For this design Jim got inspired by the ancient old Hammer stone of Gotland.
