The GlenDronach 8 years old The Hielan is a remarkable GlenDronach release matured in both sherry and bourbon casks. The name refers to the Forgue distillery, the home of GlenDronach in the Highlands. The whisky is very aromatic with lots of spices, sultanas, raisins, butterscotch and sweet sherry bottled at 46% ABV.
Nose: round notes of orange blossom and citrus followed by butter, sultanas, sundried raisins, ripe yellow prunes and a hint of vanilla
Palate: ripe with oak spices, warm soaked sultanas, apricot jam, gingerbread and delicate notes of butterscotch, cocoa and roasted almonds
Finish: classic sherry notes contrasting with bourbon and the classic Highlands character
