The Glen Garioch 15 years old Renaissance is the first edition in the Renaissance Collection which will consist of 4 releases. To be followed are a 16, 17 and 18 years old release. This 15 years old consists of Glen Garioch whisky's from 1997 to 1999 and has matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. Since the youngest whisky is 15 years old it is also named this way. However, it contains mostly a 17 years old malt from 1997.
It is one of the first distillates made after the distillery was temporarily closed from 1995 to 1997. Compared to single malts from before 1995 this one is unpeated, full-bodied, creamy and malty, the new style of Glen Garioch. This Highlander is bottled at natural cask strength of 51,9% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Colour: honey and golden yellow
Nose: complex with creamy toffee, butterscotch, ginger and citrus
Palate: rich and full-bodied with apricots, cinnamon, oranges and some maltiness
Finish: long and robust with hints of ginger and marmalade
