The Deanston Virgin Oak is one of those releases for which the distillery chose to use new oak casks. The casks for this young Deanston come from a cooperage in Bardstown (USA). This Virgin Oak release was bottled in 2010 at 46,3% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: notes of oak with light aromas of lemon zest and sweet barley sugar followed by apple and nutmeg
Palate: pleasant notes of candied fruit with vanilla toffee and heather honey
Finish: lightly spices with notes of honey and sweet and malty notes from the oak
