The Glen Scotia 45 years old is the oldest Glen Scotia bottled to date. This Campbeltown single malt matured in refill bourbon barrels which were filled on the 23rd of December 1973. After a long maturation they’ve been recasked in a first fill bourbon cask in 2011 after which this release was bottled in 2019 at natural cask strength of 43,8% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour. This is a limited edition of 150 bottles packed in a luxury wooden case.
Nose: maritime influences with pineapple, green apple, floral aromas, rose petals, vanilla and toasted oak
Palate: an oily mouthfeel with sweet caramel, juicy tropical fruit, pineapple, mango and watermelon followed by vanilla an honey
Finish: long with sea salt and lime followed by warming aromas of cinnamon and ginger
