The Ardgowan Clydebuilt Coppersmith is the very first release in the Clydebuilt series by the new to be build Ardgowan distillery. As a predecessor for Ardgowan’s own spirit releases master distiller Mac McFarlane is taske with creating a series of six releases in the Clydebuilt series to establish a name for Ardgowan. The first release is the Coppersmith. A blend of Highlands and Speyside malts married in first fill Oloroso casks and bottled in 2020 at 48% ABV.
Nose: Passionfruit coulis and blueberries drizzled over mascarpone ice cream. Rich notes of marmite, jalapeño and cheese bread followed by wisps of sea spray and freshly spun wool.
Palate: Light and spicy with clementine packed Wensleydale, candyfloss grapes, steamed milk and cloves. Wholemeal pasta. Ginger purée, sesame oil and a damp cardboard box of raisins.
Finish: Well hello you textured beauty.
