The Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is named after the founder of Japanese whisky and Nikka, Masataka Taketsuru. This blended malt is made from whisky’s of Nikka’s two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. The 2020 release contains a higher percentage of Yoichi malts resulting in a richer and slightly more peaty release compared to it’s predecessors. It’s bottled at 43% ABV.
Nose: citrus, coconut and chocolate with light and salty peat aromas
Palate: rich with aromas of lemon pie, salty peat, apple, pear, white flowers and choolate
Finish: elegant with Acacia honey, cinnamon, chestnut and liquorice
