The Scarabus Islay Single Malt is the first release in a series bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing awaiting the release of the first whisky from their new Ardnahoe distillery. Scarabus farm once was a distillery in 1817 and 1818. It’s located on the road to Port Askaig and if you turn left before the ferry you arrive at Ardnahoe distillery. This is a 6cl sample.
This Islay single malt is the first release and originates from an undisclosed Islay distillery. It was bottled at 46% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: Islay peat smoke with sea salt, warm leather, cooked rhubarb and red berries
Palate: soft with vanilla sweetness red fruit followed by more sea salt and peat smoke
Finish: rich and warming with peat smoke and lots of pepper
