The Scarabus Islay Single Malt is the first release in a series bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing awaiting the release of the first whisky from their new Ardnahoe distillery. Scarabus farm once was a distillery in 1817 and 1818. It’s located on the road to Port Askaig and if you turn left before the ferry you arrive at Ardnahoe distillery.
This Islay single malt is the first release and originates from an undisclosed Islay distillery. It was bottled at 46% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: Islay peat smoke with sea salt, warm leather, cooked rhubarb and red berries
Palate: soft with vanilla sweetness red fruit followed by more sea salt and peat smoke
Finish: rich and warming with peat smoke and lots of pepper
