The Bruichladdich Octomore 9.1 is the first release in the ninth batch of Octomore releases by Bruichladdich. A heavily peated Islay single malt distilled in 2012 from 100% Scottisch Concerto barley that was peated up to 156 PPM. This Octomore matured in ex Jim Beam cask (51%), EX Jack Daniel’s casks (26%), ex Clermont casks (15%) and ex Old Grand-Dad casks (8%) (all casks are first fill). The 9.1 was bottled in 2018 at natural cask strength of 59,1% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: bonfire, fresh pines and grapes
Palate: lots of smoke and charcoal with alp forest and dried apricots
Finish: long and peppery with smoke, ginger and oak
