Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011 (50%)

The Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011 is the 2011 vintage from Bruichladdich that is made 100% from Islay barley. In this case from 6 farms and two barley varieties, Publican and Oxbridge. It was distilled in 2011 and matured in first fill American oak casks (75%), second and third fill Sauternes and Austrian sweet wine casks (15%) and first fill Rivesaltes wine casks (10%). This release is 6 years old and was bottled in 2019 at 50% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.

Nose: Bright grapefruit and nectarines balanced by a hint of sea spray

Palate: Almond, walnut and barley, joined by tinned peaches, milk chocolate and orange peel

Finish: Subtly coastal, with white grape and barley sugar in support
