The Balvenie Peat Week 14 years old 2003 is the result of experiment by Malt Master David Stewart and former distillery manager Ian Millar back in 2001. They decided to distill a batch of heavily peated malt. Since then they do this at The Balvenie for one week every year with 100% Highland resulting in 30 ppm. After that the new make spirit fully matures in American oak casks before being bottled. This release was distilled in week 34 (August) of 2003 and was bottled in 2017 at 48,3% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
