The Benriach 17 years old 1999 Cask #13076 Finished in a Vina Ventisquero Grey Carmenere Barrel is a Speyside single malt from Benriach bottled for the Dutch importer de Monnik Dranken. Also the importer of the Vina Ventisquero wines from Chile. They transferred two casks to Benriach, of which this Carmenere cask is the first. The whisky for this release was distilled on the 28th of June 1999 and matured in a bourbon barrel before being finished in Grey Carmenere barrel 13706. It was bottled in August 2016 at natural cask strength of 53,1% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour. A limited single cask release of 324 bottles.
Nose: caramelised yellow pears and green apple skins combine with hints of honey and barley
Palate: warm crisp oak, barley sugards and vanilla pod with a touch of gooseberry
Finish: medium long with a zesty citrus notes that balances with the sweetness
