Linkwood 26yo Special Release 1981 - 2008 Rum Cask (54,5%)

The Linkwood 26yo Special Release 1981 - 2008 Rum Cask is part of the Diageo 2008 Special Releases. In a series of 3 a limited edition port, rum and wine cask have been bottled. This rort cask matured single malt is limited release of 1260 bottles distilled in 1981. For 12 years it's matured like any other Linkwood followed by a 14 years long maturation in old rum casks. This 26 years old Speyside malt  has pleasant notes of brown sugar and is bottled at natural cask strength of 54,5% ABV.

Nose: very fresh with aromas of roasted cookies, stewed banana and orange, toffee, vanilla cream and notes of almonds. With some water a little sweeter with an explosion of figs, raisins, malt and treacle

Palate: both sweet and dry with chocolate, orange, fresh citrus acidity, spiciness of cedar, anise and grain. With some water more sweetness and a light acidity with light salty notes and nuts

Finish: medium long, dry, slightly nutty with sweet ginger. With some water more sweet chocolate notes
