Linkwood 26yo Special Release 1981 - 2008 Port Cask (56,9%)

The Linkwood 26yo Special Release 1981 - 2008 Port Cask is part of the Diageo 2008 Special Releases. In a series of 3 a limited edition port, rum and wine cask have been bottled. This port cask matured single malt is limited release of 1260 bottles distilled in 1981. For 12 years it has matured like any other Linkwood but for the last 14 years it has matured in old port casks. The result is a 26 years old Speyside malt with light port notes and a fruity aroma. Bottled at natural cask strength of 56,9% ABV.

Nose: juicy fruit and lemon acidity followed by ripe oranges, pomegranate, caramel, nuts, oats, heather honey and floral aromas. With some water more coconuts, dried spices, fruit and dried flowers

Palate: sweet, viscous and pleasant with notes of lemon, sweet fruitiness, cereal bars and dry cocoa. With some water it's softer with brown sugar and some treacle

Finish: long and dry with cedar and a cool finish with a hint of mint
