The Tomintoul Five Decades is an anniversary release of this Speyside distillery commemorating 50 years of Tomintoul. The distillery was founded in 1965 and from each 10 production years (decade) Master Distiller Robert Fleming has selected some Tomintoul casks.
The Five Decades Whiskies: 1965-2005
1965 – Rare casks from the first year of distilling known for the soft and sweet aromas with orange zests, rose leaves and Turkish delight
1975 – Distilled in a very warm summer this whisky matured with lots of spices and floral aromas with some summerfruit and pear
1985 – A worthy representation of the eighties with a typical Tomintoul style, light with sweet nuances.
1995 – Rich and interesting aromas by 20 years of maturation in sherry casks with notes of plums, raisins, hazelnut, walnut and soft sherry notes
2005 – A 10 years old American oak release combining vanilla, honey and coconut with a spicy finish
A fascinating project resulting in 5320 individually numbered bottles bottled at 50% ABV.
