The Scarabus Islay Single Malt is an Islay release bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing awaiting the release of the first whisky from their new Ardnahoe distillery. Scarabus farm once was a distillery in 1817 and 1818. It’s located on the road to Port Askaig and if you turn left before the ferry you arrive at Ardnahoe distillery.
This batch strength release originates from an undisclosed Islay distillery. It was bottled at 57% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: liquorice with vanilla, burnt toffee, furniture polish and Lysol with more peat smoke and smoldering bonfires
Palate: refreshing and clean with eucalyptus, sea salt, ash, toffee and cough syrup
Finish: long and lingering with salty influenes and ash
