The Scarabus Islay Single Malt is an Islay release bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing awaiting the release of the first whisky from their new Ardnahoe distillery. Scarabus farm once was a distillery in 1817 and 1818. It’s located on the road to Port Askaig and if you turn left before the ferry you arrive at Ardnahoe distillery.
This 10 years old originates from an undisclosed Islay distillery. It was bottled at 46% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour.
Nose: sweet fruit, a hint of coffee, caramel, earthy aromas and then peat
Palate: honey sweet and soft with salty influences, hot spices, a wet beach, menthol and eucalyptus. Very warming
Finish: a spicy finish with warming peat smoke
