Berry’s Own Selection Penny Blue XO Batch 5

Berry Brothers & Rudd, also known as Berry's, are mostly known as the oldest wine company of the UK. In addition they are also the owner of the Glenrothes whisky distillery and they bottle excellent whisky's and rums. Under the Berry's Own Selection label it bottles a beautiful series of rum. The Berry's Own Selection Penny Blue XO Rum Batch 5 comes from the Medine distillery in Mauritius. This Single Estate Mauritian Rum was distilled at the oldest distillery of the Island and has matured in whisky, bourbon and cognac casks. A small batch vatted rum made from handpicked casks by Berry Bros & Rudd manager Doug McIvor and Medine's master distiller Jean Francois Koenig. The oldest cask was 11 years old and the youngest 5. Batch 5 was bottled in 2017 at 43,1% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour. A limited release of 10.290 bottles.

Nose: honey, rich fruitiness and delicate spices

Palate: rich and clean with a concentrate of burned oranges, passion fruit and spices

Finish: fruity and well balanced with some spicy influences
