The Glenrothes Alba Reserve is special and rare Glenrothes also known as the Kosjer Glenrothes single malt. This Speysider was released in 2009 following many requests from American Orthodox-Jewish whisky lovers mostly from New York. The main issue with making this whisky was the amount of sherry in it since this is not a kosher drink.
This release has not, like normally, matured in both Spanish and American oak casks but only in American ex-bourbon casks. After maturation it was bottled at 40%.
Nose: creamy and milky with coconut and almond aromas, some vanilla, oak, cloves, nutmeg and ripe fruit like apricots, pear, apple and some floral hints
Palate: sweet and rich with aromas of green wood, honey, frankicense, intoxicating flowersaromas and hints of lime and cardamom
Finish: long with returning aromas of honey and a hint of candied orange and malted barley
