The Extra Old Particular Port Ellen 32 years old 1982 is an Islay single malt from the closed Port Ellen distillery bottled by the independent bottler Douglas Laing. It's one of the first releases in the Xtra Old Particular Series which was introduced in October 2014. This series is the successor of the discontinued Director's Cut (Europe) and Executive Decision (USA and Asia) series. This Port Ellen was distilled in October 1982 and has matured in refill hogshead DL 10544. It was bottled in October 2014 at natural cask strength of 54,6%, non chill filtered and with no added colour. A limited single cask release of 120 bottles.
Nose: very rich with notes of sea salt, warming spices and sea spray
Palate: lots of dark fruit, cocoa, a leathery dryness followed by smoke and tobacco
Finish: more smoke mixed with barley sugar, soft peat and a whiff of salt and melted butter
